- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly coat with nonstick spray; set aside.
- Peel and chop the apple.
- Beat together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl or bowl of a stand mixer until smooth and creamy. Mix in the flour, salt, and baking powder until combined.
- Add the milk and beat until a smooth batter forms.
- Spread half the batter evenly in the prepared pan, then layer the chopped apples on top.
- For the crumb topping, combine butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Cut the butter into the mixture until it forms crumbs. Sprinkle half of the crumbs over the apples.
- Spread the remaining batter evenly over the apples and crumbs, then top with the rest of the crumb mixture.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool, then prepare the glaze and drizzle over the cake before serving.
